To be held APRIL 25TH AT SP ELKS LODGE
(San, Pedro, CA) San Pedro
High Pirate Booster Club and Mary Star High Booster Club are organizing a unique,
one-of-a-kind, 4th Annual San Pedro Charity Texas Hold’em Poker
Tournament on Friday, April 25th at 5pm – 12pm. This is a
no-limit Texas Hold‘em Tournament, and non-money awarding event. All donated proceeds from the Tournament
will be divided equally between the two non-profit Booster clubs. Gaming entry fee is a $25 donation, includes
$1000 in chips and eligible coupons for prizes. Check-in time for the
tournament is 5 pm, gaming will start at 6 p.m. with last entry eligible to
8:45 pm. San Pedro Elks Lodge will be hosting this event and providing
‘Happy Hour’ food for guest Tournament players.
Many prizes and gifts will
be awarded every 15 minutes, with the poker ‘blind’ increases (minimum bets)
over an estimated 6-hour gaming time. The First Place Winner will
receive the highly prized, the Winner’s Silver Bracelet, sponsored by
the Treasure Chest jewelry store. Attractive trophies will be awarded to
the Final Eight Players, the Top Three Players, The Top Elk finisher, the Top
Woman finisher, the Top USC vs UCLA finisher and the Top Longshoreman finisher.
Several Table Sponsored
teams have formed now: Mary Star High
Team, led by Mike Ringelman, President; San Pedro High Team, led by Eddie
Grageda, President; and USC Team (sponsored by Sandwich Saloon), led by
Shawn Talbott. Other teams in the
planning stages are a UCLA team (sponsored by San Pedro Brewery Company restaurant),
a Longshoreman’s Team and an Elks Lodge Team.
Any additional teams may be sponsored, by assembling a table of at least
eight players to join the Tournament.
Both the San Pedro High and
Mary Star High School Booster Clubs, along with the San Pedro Elks Club
encourage beginners as well as serious players, since this will be fun at all
levels. The theme is also, to come out to play in good, clean, historical
community rivalry and mutual benefit, for the kids programs these funds will
benefit. The friendly rivalry has a perpetual trophy that the Pirate Booster
Club has won 2 years in a row, with a first place finisher being a San Pedro
High School ‘Pirate’ alumni, each of the last 3 years.
San Pedro High School Booster Club is the oldest booster club in Los
Angeles City, established in 1958. It is a non-profit 501c3 organization, that
raises funds for many San Pedro High School athletic teams needs and providing
student scholarships, dedicated every year to honored past members. Please see
